OK, not really a black daffodil... just a silhouette. Was lucky enough to get some direct sun out back, and thought I'd try for the silhouette since daffodils have such interesting shapes, from almost any angle. Wish it would have been a little darker, but think the 'ghosting' effect around the edges turned out pretty interesting.

018 : Daffodil side
Thought this daffodil had some interesting ridges poking out... and the house made for a great neutral backdrop (it really takes on the gray of he sky on overcast days like today!) Think the texture along the cone turned out interesting as well.

017 : Top of trellis
Another dreary day, but no break in the weather to take advantage of. The shots I attempted of anything colorful proved pointless, as there wasn't enough light. Wound up by the shed in our backyard where the trellis pokes out above the sheds roof. Thought it had an interesting texture to it... hopefully we'll get sun soon... apparently the region hasn't even hit 60 degrees yet this year, and it's almost April!

015 : Sunlit daffodil stalks
Thought I'd go out and shoot the daffodils, but thought the sunspotted stems were more interesting and began focussing on those. Just love all the different shades of green, with the little yellowish tips.

014 : Plum bloom on mossy side
Managed to find some blue sky, and went out to the plum tree. Tried to get a shot from a little different perspective, and wound up on the other side of the tree where there is a ton of moss (which actually is the north side.) I thought it strange that the moss kind of grows out in strands, but made for a neat textured backdrop.

013 : Daffodil 'ridge'
Love the little ridges around the 'cup' of the daffodil, and found this one up against a gray rock, which made for a nice contrasting backdrop.

012 : Symmetrical gutters
Spent most of the way waiting for the sun to break out (or at least get a little blue sky) but it never happened. Instead, the day got progressively worse, so by the time I had to get a shot, it was raining out. Thought I'd see if the rain drop/gutter shot would turn out any different if I took it out front (as opposed to out back.) Didn't really seem to, other than the perpendicular gutter also makes an appearance below for some interesting symmetry.

011 : Unknown bloom silhouette
Kind of overcast again... went out back and saw this bloom against the gray sky. It's from some bush in our backyard... maybe Jill knows what it is! Sure thought it had an interesting shape though, with all the curled leaves coming off its sides. On furlough Thursday, so hopefully the sun will come out at any point tomorrow!

010 : Plum bloom on blue sky
Finally some blue sky! Figured I should get a colorful shot of the plum blooms, since they always seem to be the first to go in Spring. And the light pink always looks great against the blue.

009 : Lilac bud on green
Finally some sun! But not until later in the evening when it was closer to setting, meaning it was behind all of the plants in our backyard. Sure made a nice green backdrop from our neighbors lawn though. Don't usually shoot the lilac outside of April (or is it May?) when it blooms, but couldn't pass up on the background.

008 : Plum blooms on steel blue
Another overcast day, but I think the dimness actually helped this shot, as I love how dark the trunk of the plum tree turned out. But still, can't wait to get a shot of these blooms against a bright blue sky!

007 : Camelia corner
Another overcast day... I find myself reminding me that the early days are the toughest... weather is bad, days are the shortest, and there's not a lot of things in bloom yet. Guess I should be fortunate to just get a crisp shot on these overcast days, even it does make the pink of the petals a bit neon.

006 : Dripping gutter
Almost a week and still rainy. Most of the shots I took turned out really grainy due to how dim it was out, so went out back to hopefully get some more light. Love how reflective the raindrops are on the rough gutter. Lets hope the sun comes out this weekend!

005 : Plum blossom on rainbow
Another rainy day, but at least this even provided a rainbow as well! Tough to focus on it, but made for an interesting backdrop! Too bad there wasn't some blue sky behind it to really make it pop, but think it turned out pretty interesting nonetheless.

004 : Back of wet daffodil
Another rainy day. Thought I'd try and shoot one of the daffodils out front, but the cloud cover made it a bit dim, so didn't get many crisp shots. Did like this one against the dark backdrop, with the droplets somehow balancing on the back of the petals to this daffodil.

003 : Raindrops building under gutter
Lousy weather today. Downpours. Hail. Crazy loud thunder. Didn't dare venture out from under the gutters. But did manage to get what I think is a pretty neat shot. Love the different sizes and shapes of the raindrops in their different stages, with the one about ready to drop and the light passing through it, and the haze of the tree in the bottom backdrop.

002 : Crocus mass
There's a bunch of crocuses (crocii?) alongside the front of our walkway that were the first flowers to pop up this Spring (daffodils aren't far behind though.) It was still overcast when I got home, but at least the orange and purple of the flowers still stood out against the pale petals.

001 : Poking sun on Camellia
Mostly rain today, but the sun did poke out just before it set, allowing the sun to shine through the Camellia tree (bush?) The petal sure caught the sun pretty well.
