Nothing like having a crisp blue sky to shoot against! Love the little bright white stamen poking out.

048: Sunlit closed tulip
Wish I could catch one of these tulips when it was actually open, but I think the pale exteriors are pretty interesting nonetheless... especially from this angle when you can see a hint of the colored interior.

047 : Downward "Donald Duck" tulip
I call these the 'Donald Duck' tulips... white face, yellow bill. Shot a handful of them around the stepping stones (which make fora great steely blue backdrop. Wish there had been a bit more light, but love how the petals turned out.

046 : White petal on pink tulip
Thought it was interesting that this petal of this pink tulip was pretty much white. I'll have to investigate further to see if the inside is white or pink... just thought it was strange.

045 : White daffodil half
Looks like the daffodils are on their way out, so thought I'd grab a few more shots of them before they do. Just really love the orange, white, and green of these daffodils.

044 : Tulip against lily blades
I know I got a shot of this tulip just a couple days ago, but I really loved how the green leafy backdrop turned out with the soft pink. Plus raindrops always help!

043 : Rhododendron buds
Another pink flower ready to bloom... but lucky for me this one is easy enough to get against a bright blue sky! This rhododendron was from the one out back... not sure why it blooms before the one out front, so I was surprised to see pink blips when I went onto the back deck.

042 : Pink tulip
Another one of the flowers that we planted last fall... just love the color, and the texture of the petals... se sure to click on the image to see the full size! Think the bright green highlights add a little something as well. Happy Easter!

041 : Right half tulip
Just really love how the colors turned out in this one... from the bright bloom to the more cool backdrop. Looks like tomorrow will be another sunny day, so should make for a good shot!

040 : Angled side daffodil
Really enjoying shooting all the daffodils out front, now that we have such a variety of types and colors. Even having the same type of daffodil in different locations really helps shooting them fresh and interesting. Not really sure if this is supposed to be one of the orange coned versions that happened to turn out light, or if this a separate yellow coned version, but either way made for a great shot. Just glad I had some sun earlier today afternoon before it started raining again!

039 : Straight-on daffodil
A little bit overcast, but plenty of light to get a nice shot. Really love how the colors turned out in this one, as the whites didn't wash away. Think the orange and the green actually work pretty well together.

038 : Budding tulip on blue
Finally, another flower has appeared... felt like I might be shooting daffodils forever! Just glad that this guy was poking up and opening a bit at noon, and that is was a nice sunny day... as it sure makes getting crisp shots easier. Love the red and yellow together.

037 : Forefront and backdrop daffodils
Last fall (I think) give gave me a bag of daffodil bulbs to plant around the front yard, and for whatever reason I decided to make a 3-foot diameter circle with them by our front door. Although they are in the shade quite a bit, I love their proximity to one another, which allows for shots like this. Love that the front glows from the sun, while the distant flower sits in the shadows.

036 : White daffodil corner
Got some sunlight today, so went out front around noon to get a handful of shots. We have a few white daffodils with orange cones, so tried to get some good shots of them. Really liked the layout of this shot... especially the daffodil stalks pointing up parallel to the stem.

035 : Wet daffodil against concrete
Wet again, but some light throughout the day. Just like this shot of the bright daffodil against the speckled stone backdrop.

034 : Rainy white daffodil
Had to break out the flash, as it was another gray evening. Liked this daffodil facing down with all these raindrops on it... the flash sure highlights those. Love the peek of orange, and blue/green of the stalks below.

033 : Orange striped gutter
Another rainy evening, but around sundown managed to get some sun, making the whole sky an orange glow... really was a pretty neat sight for sure. Hard to believe our green gutters could have an orange striped pattern applied to them...

032 : Stacked orange-cupped daffodils
I liked how yesterdays shot turned out, but I didn't think the orange cups really showed how orange the cups really were... with this shot the sun was behind the cups, which really kept them pretty dark. And love how the sun through the petals almost make them glisten.

031 : Orange-cupped daffodil
Finally, a decent shot of these daffodils. They've been up for a few weeks now, but due to combinations of bad weather and shadows, I haven't been able to get a decent shot of them until today (sunny at lunchtime!) Love how fiery the edge of the cone looks, and thought the other daffodil stems made for a nice cool backdrop.

030 : Rainbow
Huge rainbow out front at sunset! Went from super bright on the left to fading out to about 30% on the right. Unfortunately it was raining, so I couldn't really maneuver out in the open to get a cooler shot, but I think the color turned out pretty accurate in this shot, and like the plum tree branches in the corner for some perspective.

029 : Wet white daffodil
Another dreary day. Would have been nice to have blue sky again, but it was pretty much overcast and rainy most of the day. Just saw this new white daffodil poking up and thought I'd get some shots of it against the dead grass, although I still think a nice blue backdrop would have been way better had it been available!

028 : Glowing Camellia
Little wet out in the morning, but the sun eventually came out for a while. Love how it makes the petals translucent. Liked how the camellia in the background added a bit of color as well.

027 : Back of daffodils
Think it's interesting how the back of the daffodils actually start out green... it's not like the petals are all yellow (like I originally thought) but instead seem to gradiate out from the center. Never really noticed that before. And just love the yellow against the green lawn.

025 : Wet daffodil against light
Cold and wet most of today, but managed to get some sunshine on my lunch break. Really liked how the sun reflected of the walkway stone from a few posts ago, so thought I'd try something similar with the sun bouncing off the rock from behind... sure makes for a dynamic backdrop.

024 : Dandelions
Looks like the dandelions are poking up again... fortunately these were in the garden, so Jill won't bother picking them! Still not sure why people hate them so... if they were bigger, I think people would plant them in their gardens, as I think they're a neat looking bloom!

023 : Daffodil bud birdseye
Pretty dim out, but enough light to get this looking-down shot on this daffodil. Loved the green and orange groundcover of the righthand side.

022 : Daffodil bud against reflective stone
This photo turned out pretty well I think... I really thought the backdrop was the interesting part, as it was a wet stepping stone which was reflecting the sun, creating some interesting highlights, coupled with the shadow of another daffodil (top right). I thought it almost looked like a shimmering pool of water.

021 : Raindropped fallen Camellia
Tons of sun today, but also lots of rain (and a little bit of hail!) Found this camellia in the tree, and loved the tiny bit of sun it got. Actually used the flash on this one, and really seemed to bring out the droplets towards the back pretty well. Love the texture of the petals.
