110 : Peach lily center
Another overcast day, but supposedly this will be the last one for awhile! Still managed to get some interesting colors out of this peach lily... love all the yellows and reds, and everything in between, with a sliver of green. Really is too bad the sun couldn't have been out for this one.

109 : Leaning delphinum
I've no idea what this plant is (I'm sure Jill let me know once she sees it), but I thought it looked great against the green on this overcast day. I actually shot this plant a week or so ago when it was just a bunch of white buds climbing up a stem, but those buds turned purple, and then into these flowers.

108 : Cali lily center
I've been meaning to get a good top down shot of the cali lily, and think I finally got one that qualifies. Not a lot of sun to work with this evening, but just enough to cast a very light shadow, but I think once again the lack of sun may have worked to my advantage. Looks like we should get a string of sunny days here soon, so I suppose I'll find out then!

107 : Upwards day lily
The day lilies have been up for a short while... just haven't gotten around to shooting them with so many other things popping up. A bit overcast this evening, but I think it helps keep the glare down on some of the lighter colored blooms (like this!) so seemed to be the perfect chance to get a nice crisp yellow shot.

106 : Dragon lily stamen and shadows
Saturday, June 25, 2011
105 : Calla lily crossways
The calla lily is finally coming up, and love all the yellow streaks it has closer to its base. Look forward to shooting this in the next few weeks.!

104 : Yellow tiger lily with orange backdrop
Really wanted to get this yellow/orange combination again, but thought I'd try it from a different angle. Really think it turned out pretty interesting. Might have to return to this well a few more times before they run their course!

102 : Little white buds
It was overcast all day, and only seemed to get darker and colder as the day progressed. I couldn't get any good shots of any colored flowers, so thought I'd try this white plant. Still looks a bit grainy, but I like the simple color scheme.

101 : Orange tiger lily
Just love the orange and green of this shot... sure pops when the sun is out. Looks like the rest of the week should be nice, so hope to get many more bright shots like this before the week's end.

100 : Tiger lily on sidewalk
Overcast again, but somehow these lilies seem more orange without it (no glare I suppose?) Love the concrete sidewalk as a dark spotted neutral backdrop.

099 : Allium on pink
There's a few allium still hanging out, and got this one in front of the rhododendrons. Wish there would have been some more sun, but love how neon the green stem appears against the pink.

098 : Rainy purple iris
It rained all day long. Good thing this iris is close enough to the gutters that I could shoot it with the zoom lens and remain dry.

097 : Yellow tiger Lily petals on orange
Just really loved the colors in this one... I don't recall the yellow tiger lily being so close to the orange one last year, but thought with some green in between, it makes a great palette.

096 : Green spade leaf
Been spending a lot of evenings shooting out front, so thought I'd shoot out back for a change. Really not too much to shoot back there with the lilac gone, but just love all the greens to be found, and the texture of these sunlit leaves.

095 : Twin orange tiger lilies
Another gray day... another orange tiger lily shot. Really like how just the petal in the lower right and green lily blade from the top right were in focus. Can't wait to get some shots of these in the sun!
Tuesday, June 14, 2011
094 : Wet orange tiger lily
A bit gray out, and a touch of rain... just enough to get some drops on the sole orange tiger lily that's bloomed. Sure love that orange color against the dark green of its stems and leaves.

093 : Sunny yellow tiger lily
Got a bit of sun when I got home, and went straight for the yellow tiger lily (it definitely stands out in the front yard pulling into the driveway!) Looks like the orange ones aren't far behind!

092 : Dewy lilac petal from side
Another rainy day, but I guess sometimes the rain brings opportunities like this. Just love the whitened dew drops weighing down the iris petal against the green.

091 : Sparse allium on green
Even though these are on their way out, I still thought it looked pretty interesting against the green... with less blooms on the plant, you can really see the detail of each little bloom.

090 : Yellow Asian/Tiger lily
Since it's Jill's birthday, figured I best shoot what she recommended... and it's yellow! It's nice to see these pop up, as they are really colorful and always fun to shoot. Can't wait for the orange ones!

089 : Blooming iris on green
I try not to shoot the same subject three days in a row, but it seems the rhododendrons and allium are dying, and the day lilies haven't yet bloomed. Besides, I just loved how the purple side of the iris looked against our lawn. Here's to another sunny day tomorrow!
Wednesday, June 8, 2011
088 : Iris bud and stem
Kind of gray out, but enough light that the yellow out front still helps these purple blooms pop. Love the green of the stem, and the purple of the back petal.
Tuesday, June 7, 2011
087 : Purple iris on yellow
Managed to catch some sun at lunch, and thought I'd get some shots of the new iris poking up. Could have sword it was a darker shade last year, so not sure if it just darkens as it ages, or somehow bloomed a lighter shade this year, but it sure seemed brighter than last year!

086 : Robin on fence
Pretty gray out this evening, so I was glad to see this robin land on the fence and hang out for a while. It was a bit breezy (see the feathers on his/her chest) but he/she stayed up there long enough for me to grab my camera and snap a few shots. Wish I could have gotten a shot of the bird in the sun with his orange chest, but think the dim muted colors has its own charm.

085 : Dead-cornered lilac
I wanted to get one last morning shot of the lilac, and it's a good thing I didn't wait until next week because it looks like the blooms are already on their way out. I actually think the little flecks of gold add some interesting color to the cool palette, so maybe I'll try and come back to these one more time.

084 : Glowing rhododendon
There's always a few rhododendron blooms on the opposite side from where the sun is shining down that is only getting a little bit of sun trickling through the bush, and gives of this kind of glowing effect.

083 : Allium up close
Went out to get a bunch of shots since the weather was so nice, and after four shots had the battery die on me >< but I think this one turned out pretty interesting, so I don't feel like today's effort was a waste at all! The shot turned out a little more magenta than I recall the flower being (I thought it was more purple) but love the color scheme nonetheless!

082 : Shadowed lilac at sunset
I wanted to get a shot of the lilac during the evening (as opposed to the morning when I normally shoot it because the sun hits it directly) to see how different it would turn out. Definitely turned out different without direct sun, as the blooms seem to take on a bluish hue. I hope to get another morning shot of the lilacs this weekend if it's as nice and sunny as the weatherpeople claim it will be.

081 : Right-half rhododendron
I was lucky enough to catch a little sun and blue sky during my lunch hour today, and got this shot. Love how the stamen almost have a white glow radiating from it against the blue sky.
